Log into Hōkai

Hōkai works well on most browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Edge).

If you use Safari, make sure it is version 17 or later to prevent compatibility issues.

A. Staff and Thesis students

You will log in using your staff account credentials. Go to: https://hokai.wgtn.ac.nz

Then click on the University Staff Single Sign-On button at the top, and enter in your staff email and password:

If you are not automatically logged in to Hōkai you will be asked to register your account.

PhD and Masters by Research students: If you don't know your staff account details, contact your School Administrator or Faculty of Graduate Research.

B. Honours and Masters by coursework students, External researchers

These researchers do not have automatic access. Please complete this Access Request Form.

No university account is required, so external users can use the form to request access with any email address.

Once access is granted, log in to https://hokai.wgtn.ac.nz, using the User name and Password fields:

Navigate from the home page

When you log into Hōkai, the homepage displays this dashboard:

Quick links in the top banner

Hōkai always displays these buttons at the top: Hōkai (the home page), Applications (all of your applications), and Projects (approved applications).

Draft applications in progress

This box displays the most recently edited draft applications. This includes all drafts you have access to view or edit. Click the application link, or "View all" to go to the Applications page.

Projects (Approved applications)

This box displays your most recent approved and active applications. Click the application link, or "View all" to go to the Projects page.

Rounds

This box displays all of our Application forms. When you see "Rounds", that just refers to our types of application forms, Human Ethics or Animal Ethics approval.

Your activities

This displays a quick count of your Applications and Projects. You can click the box to go to that page.
